As I knew my hair was going to fall out eventually – I had already booked to go to “Going for Bust” to look at a wig. “Going for Bust” is a charity that specializes in helping a woman with breast cancer. They supply wigs, specialist bras, and emotional support for the woman as well as the family. They have a variety of shops and outlets, but I went to one near my house in Wimborne.

Laura came with me, as she would be the one looking at it – not me! Ha! We entered this room, and it had about 40 different types of wigs in all different colors. The lady explained that if we saw one, we liked, we could take it that day, but if we liked a style in a different colour, we can order one which would take a few days.

I did try on quite a few wigs, even a few different colours including a bright purple pixie wig! I thought it would be cool, turned out I looked like an idiot!! Ha! It was obvious with some of the wigs that they just wouldn’t suit me, so the whole process didn’t take long at all! We narrowed it down to a wig that we liked and took it there and then. Due to it being a charity, they simply ask for a donation of £70 for the wig, which is brilliant!

11th January - Wig Day

The wig came with all sorts of other goodies, such as a wig stand, brush, shampoo, conditioner, etc, which I thought was amazing for a charity to give all those extras.

Once finished – we went for lunch at a little café, but I didn’t wear my wig. I had only just shaved my hair off the day before, so I was going to embrace the bald for a bit. Firstly – it’s cold!! Really cold! I don’t understand how bald people do not wear a hat all the time! Any time there was a bit of a breeze you can feel it! Being bald is how I have now figured out that there is a draft coming from one of the windows in my lounge! I liked having the bald feeling for a while – and whenever I didn’t want to be bald, I now have a wig! 😊
