Since chemo, this week has been one of the tougher ones. I believe it is down to having the Carboplatin, and having to take extra steroids this week, so my body has been aching non-stop, my insomnia is worse, and the heartburn has increased. Due to this, I have spent most of this week lying in bed, watching TV, and reading. It is starting to get a bit frustrating, but I know that when my body needs to rest, I must stop. If I don’t, the next day I will be exhausted and cannot do anything.

Over the last few days, even though my hair has been very short (grade 1) when I have been sleeping, the hair still hurts my scalp. As all my hair hasn’t fallen out, I do still have quite a lot of stubble, so even if I wear a silk scarf at night, the hair is poking through and causing pain. I know it sounds strange, as many people have my length of hair and are fine, but I have been told that my scalp is trying to hold onto the hair follicles, which is why it hurts, even when short.

So tonight, I decided to do a proper close shave. I couldn’t do it – so Laura had to take care of this job! We lathered up my head and used a fresh razor and got to work. Laura did a fabulous job and got all the hair, especially the bits behind the ears.
The weirdest thing with having a fully shaved head for the first time – everything feels strange. If I touch my head – it feels like I am wearing a swimming cap! I can feel it, but not properly feel it! So so strange. Hopefully, now, I will have better sleep and even fewer headaches! 😊
